Singsongers with Dino Stamatopoulos
Dino has no business writing music, except for the fact that he loves doing it. Sometimes he thinks to himself, "What am I? The Ed Wood of toetappers?" Anyway, I don't know why I'm referring to him in third person. I'm Dino. Hi, this is my new podcast, "Singsongers", where I interview singer songwriters and learn about their processes, like: where do they get their ideas, what do they start with -- music or lyrics, and how important is it really to learn how to bar chords on a guitar??? Join him (me), won't they (you)?
4 – Dean Wareham
Dino and Dean, the Godfather Of Dream Pop, talk about writing in the rain, cowboy music, Dean’s history, the importance of mistakes, and more as Dean holds the guitar and sometimes strums along. Dean helped form Galaxie 500 in 1987, releasing three albums and the song “Tugboat.” He later helped found the bands Luna and Dean & Britta. He released his last solo album, self titled Dean Wareham in 2014. You can find more of his work at
